New V.O. for "Shatter" book trailer

So, I need your help, gentle readers.  I have some new book trailer options from which I must choose.  My brother and sister-in-law offered not too long ago to record some voice over demos for my book trailer.  While being a writer herself, my dazzlingly talented Laynie-in-Law is also an actress.  So, this was an exciting offer, which I pounced on immediately.  Each of these options has a slightly different pacing and feel.  If you could vote on which you like the best (and why) in the comments, I would be extremely grateful for your input.  So, enjoy and vote away!

I just finished reading Shatter. I enjoyed it immensely and was please to read your blog about working on the second book. I figured as no one had yet commented on the book trailers, I could offer my insight. One way to say thanks for a great read. I prefered the second trailer, because she told the story slower and like she was hurting more. I think the first seemed too fast, after all Faela never really wanted to share her story to others in the book, so it seems more like she'd be hesitant. The third has a more cynical, caustic?; I don't really know the best way to describe the sound and tone of the voice, but I would imagine Faela's to be more serious and sad. I am especially thinking sad since I just finished Shatter. Plus I think I like the accent, but what I miss in the trailer that I personally liked in the book was about all the magic and intrigue. When she says she never meant to betray her order - it alludes to something, but I don't know that others would recognized that it's an order related to magic, so I don't know how to include it, but just wanted to say it would be cool if possible to show how magic is in the story. Thanks so much for your writing. I enjoyed the characters and their developing relationships and am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

I liked the first trailer best. It seemed to be more like how someone would normally talk, as if she was telling the story after it happened. To me the 2nd was too slow and didn't seem emotional enough, and I thought the third was too casual for a promotional trailer. I read the book and really enjoyed the story. I'm looking forward to the sequel!
Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm so pleased to hear that you both enjoyed the book. Writing it was a rollercoaster. I'm working hard on the first draft of "Render" and I'll be posting updates on my progress here and hope to release it Winter/Spring 2011. Depending on life and my day job's demands of course. Thank you again!

I just finished "Shatter" and really enjoyed it.

As to the trailers, my favorite is the second. Her voice sounds more exotic and the tone of the reading was a better pace. The first is too fast and the third sounded both too slow and rather theatrical to me. I have to agree that your SIL is very talented - lovely voice.

Thank you for offering your debut novel as a free download. It was a great gift and I will look forward to buying the next instalments to read. I've already referred the series to several others.
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed my novel enough to recommend it! Thank you so much. I'll pass along the compliment to my SIL. She'll be pleased. :D

The third trailer immediately brought to mind the scene where they are all telling Gresham how they became Greys. It reminded me of the way that the characters tend to relate their stories in a slow, reflective way. Like they were reliving the events they were revealing and they were still a bit in shock at how quickly their lives had completely changed. I finished Shatter a few days ago and I thought it was great. The interaction of the main characters, discovering their histories and personality conflicts, was fun. My only complaint is that I needed a map to follow where events were taking place. With everything else going on I couldn't keep track of what was next to where. I read it on my kindle and it is easy to miss map pages. Is there a map in the book? Anyway, brilliant opening--I can't wait to see where the story goes.

PS. The first trailer reminded me of Anne of Green Gables and the second of Battlestar Galactica. Don't ask me why.
I'm so glad you liked it! There are actually maps in the physical book and on the series' website: http://thechildrenofman.blogspot.com/p/maps.html. I just couldn't manage to get the picture files small enough for my MB limit for the ebook. I'm hoping to fix that, because you're right. You really do need the maps. I'm so entertained that the first trailer reminded you of Anne of Green Gables, because that's the first comment I made to my SIL when she sent me the audio demos. Her speech patterns sounded so similar to the actress who played Anne Shirley in that first one.
